MAKE YOUR OWN REMINERALIZING TOOTHPASTE

MAKE YOUR OWN REMINERALIZING TOOTHPASTE

Make your own remineralizing toothpaste (2)

If someone had suggested I make my own toothpaste just 5 years ago, I would have rolled my eyes. Things have changed quite a lot since. Today, it’s a no-brainer!

After trying almost ALL of the hundreds of different toothpastes out there, and researching the ‘active’ and not so active ingredients in them, I resigned and started making my own. Now, I can’t imagine going back to the commercial bunkum! I have seen such a significant improvement in my overall oral health, and was able to heal one of the cavities.

Most of the commercial toothpastes contain questionable ingredients and are so abrasive that instead of preserving the teeth, they strip them of essential minerals. There are remineralizing toothpastes available but they are usually quite expensive. Besides, why bother when you can make your own?

Making remineralizing toothpaste is simpler than you think and highly effective.

These are some of my favorite recipes:

RECIPE 1

Ingredients:

  • 2 – 3 tablespoons of bentonite clay
  • 3 tablespoons of organic coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated xylitol / coconut sugar / green stevia powder
  • 10 drops of magnesium oil (or 10 drops of concentrated trace minerals)
  • ½ teaspoon of calcium phosphate powder
  • 3 drops of clove essential oil

Method:

  • Combine all the dry ingredients in a glass or stainless-steel bowl.
  • Add the coconut oil (in liquid form).
  • Stir until completely combined.
  • Add the remaining liquid ingredients and stir until completely combined.
  • The xylitol/coconut sugar crystals don’t need to be completely dissolved.
  • Store in a glass jar with lid. If the weather is too hot, it is best kept refrigerated.

RECIPE 2

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2-4 tablespoons of baking soda;or 2 tablespoons baking soda and 2 tablespoons sea/Himalayan salt
  • 1 tablespoon of xylitol / coconut sugar / green stevia powder (optional)
  • 10 drops of clove essential oil (optional)
  • 10 drops of peppermint essential oil (optional)

Method:

  • Combine all the dry ingredients in a glass or stain-steel bowl.
  • Add (liquid) coconut oil and combine well.
  • Add the remaining liquid ingredients and combine well.
  • Store in a glass jar with lid.

RECIPE 3

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup Bentonite clay
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup Calcium Citrate Malate Powder
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil (it can be replaced with either clove or cinnamon oil)
  • 1 tablespoon of xylitol / coconut sugar / green stevia powder (optional)

Method:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a glass or stainless-steel bowl.
  • Store in a glass jar with lid.

RECIPE 4

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt
  • 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
  • 5 – 6 drops of clove / cinnamon / peppermint oil

Method:

  • Combine all the dry ingredients in a glass or stain-less steel bowl.
  • Slowly add liquefied coconut oil and combine well.
  • Add the essential oil and mix well.
  • Keep in a glass jar with lid.

RECIPE 5

Ingredients:

  • ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil
  • ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 2 drops of clove oil
  • pinch of sea salt

Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a shallow dish.
  • Apply to your toothpaste and brush gently, especially the cavity-affected teeth.
  • Increase the quantity of the ingredients in the same ratio and store in a glass jar with lid.

* If you are allergic to coconut oil, you can replace it with high quality sesame or sunflower oil.
